Keywords are words someone will use when searching for information on a particular topic, product or service.

Keyword rich domain name? If you’re wondering what I mean by that allow me to explain… Keywords are words someone will use when searching for information on a particular topic, product or service. If you have a product or service you’d like to offer the world, proper keyword usage will help your customers find you.

Now how does this pertain to choosing a domain name for your blog? Keyword rich domain names are much more beneficial then something way out there just because it sounds cool. Here’s a good starter test for you.

write down 5 potential domain names for your blog…

pick 3 good ones, walk away and take a breather…

come back and pick your favorite one out of the remaining 3…

find a friend, co-worker or significant and pull them aside…

tell them the potential name of your new blog…

if they look at you like you just had a seizure and spoke in tongues…

…It may not be a good choice!
If you are going to build a blog about yoga it would be a good idea to have the word yoga in the domain name, don’t you think?
If you've been wanting to get a WordPress.org blog then you'll need a hosting service, but make sure they have excellent customer service.

If you’ve been wanting to get a WordPress.org blog then you’ll need a hosting service, but make sure they have excellent customer service. The worse thing you could possibly do is go with a crappy company just to save an extra $3 a month!

Here’s a much to common scenario:

You’re getting ready to launch a product or send people to an affiliate page you’ve built to promote another person’s stuff, and if you’ve done what you’ve probably been told one billion times, you TEST, TEST, TEST before kicking it off! You go to your site to look everything over for the last time and it’s the dreaded “Not Found” page and there’s only a few hours left before the official launch or emailing!! AAAAAhhhhhh!

Now it’s a mad dash to customer support so the problem can be addressed and hopefully fixed in time and what do ya know; there are crickets on the other end of the phone line and the support tickets you’re submitting at a neck-breaking pace aren’t even getting acknowledged let alone resolved!

Here are a few ways to avoid the above disaster:

Go with HostGator. They have phenomenal customer support and I’ve never stayed on hold for more than 8 minutes… seriously!

Avoid the cheapest hosting package!! When you invest in the cheapest hosting package you’ll find yourself sharing a single server with hundreds of people. All it takes is for one of those people to break any of the CAN-SPAM laws and the entire server gets shut down!

The next post will be covering how to choose a domain name for your upcoming WordPress blog; what’s a good domain name and what sucks!! Until then, “Take It Easy My Friends” and thanks for stopping by

I'll be trying my very best to post every single day helping you with WordPress and then on Wednesdays I'll post a complete overview of the week's prior posts; sort of a wrap-it-all-up kinda post.

You read that right people… Today is the official kick-off date for WordPress Wednesday and MAN am I excited!! Even though the name of the blog is WordPress Wednesday don’t let that fool ya amigo ;)!

I’ll be trying my very best to post every single day helping you with WordPress and then on Wednesdays I’ll post a complete overview of the week’s prior posts; sort of a wrap-it-all-up kinda post. If for some reason I don’t post for an entire week, Heaven forbid, I’ll cram it all in on that day that starts with “W“… I hope I don’t get worn out on that day by writing it so much. It’s Hump Day for crying out loud!

Now here is my first tip for ya and then next week will be more in depth…

Go with WordPress.org not WordPress.com

Here is my reasoning… In the User Agreement, or UA, it says the blog you set up can not be used to make money, they have the right to shut it down without cause or reason and they own all of the content you place up there. Plus the traffic truly isn’t yours and how much of an authority can you be perceived by the public if your blog looks something like this: http://www.IDontOwnMyOwnDomain.wordpress.com? LOL!! I don’t mean to laugh at anyone who is blogging with WordPress.com I simply made myself laugh with the www.IDontOwnMyOwnDomain.wordpress.com comment!

The next post will be about what hosting service I recommend for hosting your new WordPress.org blog. Until then, “Take It Easy My Friends” and thanks for being here for the unveiling of WordPress Wednesday, WOO HOO!!
